Madison Square Gardens

Madison Square Garden in New York is where many of the great World Heavyweight Title fights have taken place.
I was a guest of the management and was in the front row for the World Heavyweight Title
Fight between Buster Williams and Bonecrusher Douglas with the winner going on to fight
Mike Tyson for the unified world title.

A friend once commented I would have to be the only Australian to be in the front row
of a world heavyweight title fight and in reflection he probably is right.

During the setting up of the ring the night before the big fight.

I was talking to Muhammad Ali and he asked “Do you have a camera?” Yeah, I replied.

“Well you go over there and take my photo and you tell all your Aussie friends
I’m gonna visit there one day and beat you all up!”

A magic moment with the great man - But I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Iron Mike Tyson – He is not big, but he’s wide, strong and a real mean looking dude.

The nicest man I met at the Gardens was former World Heavyweight Champion
Larry Holmes who I am told won more fights as heavyweight champion
than any other boxer in history.

Another photograph of Larry Holmes.

A photograph I took while in the ring with the boxers before the start of the fight!
